Welcome To The Roxy Collective
Hello and welcome to The Roxy Collective. We are a not for profit CIC (Community Interest Company), consisting of a local group of volunteers based in Ulverston, Cumbria.
Our objective was to buy The Roxy building, (which we completed sale on 1st March 2023), to ensure it is protected, preserved, restored and revitalised for our community, for the many years to come – you can read more About Us here.
For many people The Roxy is a nostalgic building, fond in memories of family trips, date nights and a love for films, dating back to 1937. In recent years The Roxy has become a community asset building under threat, with the potential to be lost as a community hub. The Roxy Collective has formed to ensure that this much loved building remains open and an integral part of our community.
As The Roxy Collective we intend to safeguard The Roxy, maintaining and developing the building to restore its original Art Deco style, opening up unused spaces for community use, improving accessibility throughout and most importantly, keeping the businesses currently occupying the building open for our community to enjoy.
As The Roxy Collective we have developed a 3 Phase plan, starting with Phase 1: Purchasing the building – Complete! We secured several streams of funding and cannot thank our community enough for all your amazing donations to our Crowdfunder and helping us achieve our goal.
Beyond this Phase 2 begins and we start extensive renovations, leading to extending the community offers The Roxy has in place, working with the business owners throughout the whole process.
To find out more take a look through our site, you can read more About Us, Meet the Team, learn more about The Roxy History and if you have any queries or suggestion, you can Contact Us.
Please also follow our social media channels for up to date news on our plans and development.
We are holding an open evening at The Laurel and Hardy Museum on Friday 24 March 2023, 7pm to 9pm. Please join us as we discuss our journey so far, expand on our ideas and give opportunity to our community to help us as The Roxy Collective to achieve our goals for The Roxy’s future.
